It has been an eye-opening experience for Lile to serve on the Beverage Return Scheme Stakeholders Group. The amount of deliberation behind the details of the scheme and the openness in which the deliberation took place lend him confidence in the successful implementation of the scheme. The scheme is an important step towards creating a more environmentally friendly culture in Singapore.
Regarding the scheme, Lile comments that "As a behavioural scientist, I believe a 10-cent to 20-cent deposit would be effective...But I also believe that the deposit provides only the seed of change."
