Our Principal Investigator, Assoc Prof Lile Jia (Department of Psychology, National University of Singapore), was featured in The Science of Ageing Well — a CNA video series exploring the frontier of healthy ageing research.
In the episode "Unlocking the Mind," Lile speaks to the science behind two essential dimensions of ageing well: cognitive reserve and emotional well-being. Drawing on his research, he explains how the brain can build resilience over a lifetime, and how our emotional lives play a far more powerful role in healthy ageing than is commonly appreciated.
On cognitive reserve, Lile invites viewers to think about mental energy as a resource — one that can be cultivated and protected through deliberate habits and engagement. He also highlights the deep connection between emotional wellbeing and cognitive health, underscoring that ageing well is not just a physical endeavour, but a psychological one.

This feature reflects the lab's broader mission to translate rigorous psychological science into insights that matter for everyday life — and for society's most pressing challenges, including an ageing global population.
